Dunnellon woman killed in car crash in Citrus County

A Dunnellon woman was killed in a car crash in Citrus County Friday morning.

Rebecca Ann Rogers, 63, of Dunnellon was behind the wheel of a 2003 Honda Accord when it was stopped facing east on Country Club Boulevard at a stop sign as Darryl Wayne Goodman, 27, of Dunnellon was driving a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 southbound on U.S. 41, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Rogers proceeded into the roadway and into the path of Goodman, causing Goodman to collide with Rogers’ vehicle, the report stated. Rogers traveled and came to final rest on the east shoulder of U.S. 41, while Goodman’s vehicle rotated and came to final rest in the center of U.S. 41.

Rogers, who was not seatbelted at the time of the crash, died at the scene of the accident. Her passenger Deborah Lee Lily, 64, of Shady Spring, West Virginia was seriously injured and transported to Ocala Regional Hospital. Goodman was transported to Shands Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.
