Two dead after fire rips through mobile home near Belleview

Two people were reported dead Saturday morning after Marion County firefighters were called to the scene of a mobile home fire near Belleview.

Marion County firefighters were called to the scene of a mobile home fire in the 4000 block of SE 48th Lane Road on Saturday morning, where they found the residence destroyed and the remains of two people.

Firefighters responded to the blaze in the 4000 block of SE 84th Lane Road at 7:26 a.m. after a 911 caller reported the residence was “burnt to the ground” and the neighbors’ vehicle was in the driveway.

Units from Marion County Fire Rescue arrived at 7:35 a.m. and had to force entry into two locked gates to the property. Firefighters found the structure burned to the ground and the deceased’s remains, a report says.

Marion County Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives were called in to help with the investigation, along with the forensic unit.

Detectives from the Marion County Sheriff’s Major Crimes unit and the forensic unit also responded, as did the state fire marshal and the medical examiner. Marion County Animal Control officers also were called in because three horses and a goat were found on the property.

Neither the gender of the deceased nor their names have been released.
