Marion County firefighters seeking toys, clothing donations for needy families

Helping families in need during the Christmas holiday is an annual tradition for members of Marion County Fire Rescue, the Professional Firefighters of Marion County Local 3169, the Marion County Firefighters Benevolence Fund and Fire Rescue Support.

From now through Dec. 4, Marion County firefighters are collecting toys and clothing for children in need. Donations can be made at Marion County Fire Rescue Headquarters, 2631 SE 3rd Street in Ocala, or at any other MCFR station in the county.

In fact, firefighters from Marion County have come together for more than 25 years to help meet the needs of families who are struggling to stay warm and to bring joy into their homes during the holiday season.

With that kind of helping and giving in mind, those organizations have kicked off their Holiday Helpers Toy Drive. And now they’re asking area residents to partner with them in making a difference by donating clothing and toys to underprivileged children.

From now through Dec. 4, firefighters will be collecting unwrapped toys and warm clothing for children of all ages. The toys must be new and will be given to families that local schools have identified as in need.

Residents also can make monetary donations through the Marion County Firefighter Benevolence Fund website at www.mcfbf.org.

Items can be dropped off at Marion County Fire Rescue Headquarters, 2631 SE 3rd Street in Ocala, or any other MCFR station. Click HERE to see a list of those stations.
