Ocala man jailed after woman claims he beat her for refusing sexual intercourse

Lorenzo W. Siler

A woman called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Tuesday claiming that she had been violently attacked by a man who had recently been released from jail after doing the same thing to her several days earlier.

When the deputy arrived at the house, located in the 500 block SW 38th St., the woman said that 25-year-old Lorenzo W. Siler had become upset with her because she didn’t want to engage in sexual intercourse with him. She said Siler had been staying at her house the past two days.

The woman said Siler bit her left breast, leaving a “red discolored bite mark.” She said he then “attacked her and punched her several times in the face, causing numerous injuries,” a sheriff’s office report says.

The woman also claimed that Siler “slammed her head into the wall when he pulled her off the bed. She said he “choked her multiple times during the altercation,” which caused her throat to hurt. And she added that she didn’t’ recall losing consciousness but wasn’t sure if she did or not.

The deputy noted that the woman had a severely bruised right ear, a black-and-blue left eye that also included multiple scratches and discoloration, cuts on her right arm, discoloration on her chest and a bite mark on her left breast. The woman also told the deputy that her mouth was bleeding and that her head and jaw hurt because Siler had allegedly punched her with a closed fist, the report says.

The deputy ran a check on Siler’s record and discovered that he was on a special pretrial release program and had allegedly broken the conditions of the arrangement. Those included:

  • Prohibited from battering the woman;
  • Cannot go near her residence on SW 38th Street;
  • Can’t come within 100 feet of the woman’s vehicle; and
  • Can have no contact with the woman.

Siler, who already had left the residence, was arrested a short time later and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with two counts of battery, domestic battery by strangulation and violating a pretrial release condition for a previous domestic battery charge. He was being held with no bond and is due in a Marion County courtroom on Jan. 2 at 9 a.m. to answer to the new charges.

Siler pleaded not guilty to the previous domestic battery charge that was filed on Nov. 16. The case is still active in the court system, with a jury selection date for his trial set for Jan. 7.
