Ita Edwards

With sadness, the family of Ocala resident Ita Edwards, 83, announces that on Sun. Dec. 16, 2018, she peacefully went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Known for her gentle spirit and empathy for people in need, Ita was a member of Silver Springs Seventh-Day Adventist Church (SDA). She enjoyed singing in the choir and offering her home for BBQs and pool parties for SDA’s young people in the late 1980s-1990s. Born in Jamaica on Dec. 27, 1934, she immigrated to England around 1959, then to the United States in the 1970s, originally living in Brooklyn, NY. There she worked as a private nurse, showing love and care for her patients.

Ita was predeceased by her husband Carl Edwards, her parents Ralston and Lucille Panton, and son Leighton Edwards. She is survived by her children Beverly Browne, Carlton Edwards and Christine Edwards; also grandchildren Melanie, Joel, Charlene, along with three great-grandchildren and cousins.

Arrangements are under the care of Roberts Bruce Chapel East. Funeral services for Ita will be held on Thurs. Dec. 27, 2018 at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, 5050 SW 20th St., Ocala. Visitation is at noon, followed by chapel service at 12:45 p.m, and interment on site immediately following.
