U-turn leads to collision on busy roadway and leaves two Ocala men injured

Two Ocala men were injured Thursday when a U-turn led to a crash on a busy Marion County roadway.

Alexander Cavallaro, 22, was traveling northbound on SW 60th Avenue in a 2002 Acura RSX when he attempted the U-turn. Cavallaro apparently didn’t see an oncoming southbound 1996 GMC Sierra driven by 36-year-old Jason Robinson. The two vehicles collided and both drivers received minor injuries. They were transported to West Marion Community Hospital for treatment, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Cavallaro, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was cited for making an improper U-turn. Robinson was wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the FHP report says.
