Silver Springs woman accused of chest bumping unwelcome guest

Sharon Heather Kent

A Silver Springs woman was arrested after she allegedly chest bumped and spit in the face of a family member she says was responsible for her running out of gas on the way to the airport.

Sharon Heather Kent, 53, was charged with domestic battery after the incident, which happened Sunday night at her residence on NE 133rd Avenue Road.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Kent had been drinking and started an argument with her. She said Kent took off her jacket, approached her in an aggressive manner and chest bumped her, causing her to take a step backwards to regain her balance. The victim said Kent also spit in her face, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she didn’t suffer any injuries and she declined medical treatment. Her husband said he heard the verbal argument and saw the victim falling backwards, but he didn’t see the physical contact, the report said.

Kent told the deputy she returned home and became upset that the victim, her husband and three children were living at her residence and had not been helping out. She said the victim did not refuel her vehicle, causing her to run out of fuel on the way to the airport, according to the report.

Kent said the incident was only verbal and there was no physical contact, although she did make a comment about being chest-to-chest with the victim. She was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. She is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 13.
