City of Ocala ready for phased reopening plan amid COVID-19 pandemic

Several City of Ocala offices are preparing to reopen on Monday with enhanced safety protocols in place following closures in mid-March amid COVID-19 concerns.

The following offices will reopen Monday and be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. City staff located in these buildings continue to be available by phone at (352) 629-2489 or via email addresses listed below:

The Customer Service Office, located on the first floor at 201 SE Third St., will begin a phased approach to reopening the lobby to the public with adjusted hours of 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., beginning Monday, May 18 through Friday, May 29. Regular lobby hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will resume Monday, June 1. Call Center hours will remain Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Customers are reminded that assistance with all municipal services continues to be available online or via the phone.

The following offices will be open with restricted access to the public beginning Monday, May 18. Visitors must schedule an appointment before coming to city offices or staff can be reached by phone or email listed below. Walk-in services will be unavailable.

All seven City of Ocala fire stations will remain closed to the public until further notice. However, staff will remain available by phone.

Visitors entering all public buildings will be screened using a touchless forehead or temporal artery thermometer. Visitors displaying visible symptoms of upper respiratory symptoms or a body temperature at or above 100 degrees will not be allowed to enter the building. All visitors are strongly encouraged to wear a cloth face covering, per recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Masks must be unobtrusive, fit snugly over the mouth and allow persons to breathe comfortably. Novelty masks that cover the entire face and prohibit a person from being recognized are not acceptable.

Due to construction, access to the parking lots located at City Hall and the Citizen Service Center (CSC) from Watula Ave. will not be accessible. Visitors to City Hall are asked to use the north parking lot entry point on E Fort King St. The CSC parking lot will only be accessible from SE Third Street. Overflow parking is available in the free parking garage at the corner of SE Osceola Avenue and E Fort King Street.
