Reddick man charged with battering woman who refused sex

Ricky Eugene Thomas

A Reddick man was arrested after he allegedly battered a woman who wouldn’t have sex with him.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she and Ricky Eugene Thomas, 31, of S. Highway 441, got into an argument shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday because he angry she wouldn’t have sex with him. She said she left the bedroom, saying she needed to calm down because she didn’t want to fight in front of her child, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she walked back to the bedroom because Thomas was yelling at her, and this was when Thomas lunged at her as if he was going to strike her. She said Thomas punched her on the top of her head several time, the report said.

The victim said her daughter grabbed Thomas by the shoulder and hit him while trying to pull him off her mother. The victim said Thomas raised his fist at her daughter, and the victim told him, “If you hit my daughter, I will stab you,” according to the report.

The victim said Thomas got into his black Jeep and left the incident location. The victim’s daughter said she saw her mother and Thomas in a verbal argument and that things turned physical when Thomas lunged at the victim and hit her on the head several times with a closed fist, the report said.

Thomas was located at a residence on NW Gainesville Road. He told the deputy there was no altercation and all he wanted to do was go to his father’s house and sleep, according to the report.

Thomas was charged with simple domestic battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Friday on $1,000 bond. He will appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 6.
