Weirsdale man charged with battering woman and smashing truck window

Joshua David Clark

A Weirsdale man was arrested Tuesday after he reportedly battered a woman and shattered a window on her truck.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she was following 36-year-old Joshua David Clark in her vehicle because Clark “put his hands on her.” The deputy met with the victim at an undisclosed spot where she said the victim parked his truck and ran away from the area, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she and Clark had been arguing all day about him selling drugs. She said during the argument, Clark wrapped his arms around her neck and shoulder area and threw her to the ground. The victim said she tried to get up and grab her phone, but he threw her down again, the report said.

The victim said she got up and tried to leave the area, but the owner of the residence stood next to her Ford F-250, telling her to get out of Clark’s truck. She said she then got into her Ford Expedition and left the area while calling law enforcement, according to the report.

The victim said Clark left the area in the F-250 while she was on the phone with law enforcement and she chased him to the location, where he ran from his truck and she was unable to find him. The victim said while she was chasing after Clark, he pulled over and approached her vehicle, and pulled on the driver’s-side window several times, causing it to shatter, the report said.

The deputy observed red marks on the victim’s left shoulder and neck area and a broken window on her truck. The deputy put out a be-on-the-lookout-order (BOLO) for Clark and he was found inside a residence at an undisclosed address, according to the report.

Clark told the deputy that the victim tried to steal his wallet with $1,000 in it and was going to leave with his F-250. He said he tried to leave the area to get away from her and she chased him. Clark said he did not put his hands on the victim and she had been drinking all day and takes pills, the report said.

Clark was charged with simple domestic battery and taken to the Marion County Jail. He was released Wednesday on $1,000 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on Dec. 11.
