An Ocala woman was arrested after she allegedly assaulted a man over the condition he left her vehicle in and fought with his girlfriend when she tried to intervene.
Kimberly Jo Hollis, 50, of 15571 SW 46th Circle, was charged with two counts of simple battery after the incident, which happened Tuesday afternoon.
The male victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Hollis came to his residence on SW 38th Avenue and grabbed him by the throat ad bit his thumb. The deputy observed multiple red marks on the back of the victim’s head consistent with fresh scratches from fingernails. The deputy also saw a small cut on the left side of his face, as well as a cut on his left thumb that was bleeding and appeared as if the skin was peeled back, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said Hollis was angry with him over the condition of a vehicle she let him use. He said when she arrived, she told him, “come here for a second,” before she grabbed his throat with one hand and “dug her nails into” the back of his head with the other hand. The victim said while Hollis had him by the throat, he told his friend to go tell his girlfriend to come outside, the report said.
The victim’s girlfriend, who was also a victim, told the deputy she walked outside and saw Hollis holding the victim by the neck. She said she tried to pull Hollis off the victim and they started to struggle. The female victim said Hollis threw elbows at her and struck her a few times but she doesn’t recall exactly how many times due to the stress of the situation, according to the report.
The deputy observed red marks consistent with fingernail scratches on the right side of the female victim’s face, as well as a scratch on her left arm just above the elbow and a scratch on her right hand, the report said.
The female victim said after the struggle ended, she told Hollis to leave the residence several times before Hollis charged at her and grabbed her by the hair. She said she had to grab Hollis by the hair and pull on it to make her let go. The female victim said she and Hollis finally separated and Hollis left the residence in a vehicle, according to the report.
The male victim’s friend corroborated his account of the incident. He said he saw Hollis grab the female victim by the hair but didn’t see the entire altercation with her because he was watching her 2-month-old child inside the residence, the report said.
Contacted at her residence, Hollis originally said she never became physical with the male victim, but eventually changed her statement to say she grabbed him and pinned him against the car because she was angry about the condition he left it in. She said she grabbed the female victim by the hair in self-defense, according to the report.
Hollis said the male victim received the cut to his thumb because she bit down on it as he was trying to punch her in the face. She said she was struck several times in the face by the female victim. The deputy did not observe any red marks or injuries to Hollis’ body or face, the report said.
Hollis was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Wednesday on $2,000 bond. No court information was available.
