Joseph W. Comeau, a native of Lynn, MA, passed away on December 30, 2020. He was 96. Later a resident of Groveland, MA, he retired to Ocala in 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines, serving during World War II and the Korean War. After the military, Joseph worked for Raytheon Company until his retirement and then started a second career in real estate and property management. He remained active in this until shortly before his death.
Joseph was admired by those who knew him as a kind and hard working man. He enjoyed spending time with relatives and worked to maintain those relationships, traveling back to Massachusetts every year and welcoming visits to Florida.
Through his property management work, he helped many people who would otherwise have been unable to afford their own homes.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Mary E. Comeau, who passed away in 1989. He is survived by his two sons, Charles and Andrew, along with three grandchildren, Katie, Sarah and Jason.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
