Ocala Rotary Reds hosting Cal Ripken World Series at Rotary Sportsplex

Ocala’s Rotary Reds will hope to advance to the championship this weekend as they face off with five other teams in an invitational tournament at the Rotary Sportsplex.

The Cal Ripken 8-year-old Machine Pitch Invitational World Series takes place this week through Saturday, August 7.

The tournament is being hosted by Ocala’s team, the Rotary Reds, and will include the MSA Redtails from Jacksonville, the East Bay Chiefs from Tampa, the Okeeheelee Warriors from West Palm Beach, the Scott County Cardinals from Missouri and the Freedom Farm Boas from the Bahamas.

All games will be held at either 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. through Thursday, August 5, with bracket play beginning Friday at 3 p.m. and a championship game at noon this Saturday.

The event is free and open to the public, and event organizers have waived all parking and entry fees.

The Rotary Sportsplex celebrated the unveiling of a new Horse Fever 20/20 statue, “Slugger,” on Monday morning. The complex is located at 5220 SE Maricamp Road.
