Forest High School event providing reading resources for parents

Marion County parents will be able to acquire community reading resources for their children at a literacy event being held this weekend.

Marion County Public Schools kicks off its Parent Partnership with an event at Forest High School located at 5000 SE Maricamp Road in Ocala.

The event takes place on Saturday, November 13 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and includes free food, giveaways, and door prizes.

The theme of the event is Literacy, and the topics being addressed will include CANVAS for Families, elementary and secondary reading, English Language Learner (ELL) Reading, the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS), i-Ready Reading, library media reading resources, social emotional resources, and Title I parent resources.

The school with the highest rate of parents in attendance earns a traveling trophy that stays with the school until the next Parent Partnership event, according to a press release from the district.

Any parents or family members interested in attending this event will need to register at the Marion County Public Schools website.

This event is the first in a series of Parent Partnership sessions by MCPS to help cultivate a stronger family, community, and school partnership.
