MCSO corporal arrested on domestic battery charges after allegedly pushing female victim through window

A 42-year-old Marion County Sheriff’s Office corporal is facing domestic battery charges after allegedly pushing a female victim through a window at a Marion County residence.

On Saturday, March 5, several MCSO deputies responded to the residence in reference to a physical altercation involving an off-duty MCSO law enforcement officer.

Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with Roy Allen Johnson, an 18-year MCSO employee who was assigned as a corporal in the Juvenile Division. He told the deputies that he had previously attended a wedding with the female victim. When he was ready to leave the event, the victim wanted to stay with other guests.

Johnson stated that he returned to the residence and threw all the victim’s clothes outside. When the victim returned home, he locked her outside because he “didn’t want to deal with her (expletive).” He also claimed that the victim was drunk.

Johnson told the deputies that the victim was alleging that he pushed her through a window near the front door. He denied this allegation, but he was unsure how she broke the window. He stated that he just knew that she broke it.

Inside the residence, the deputies observed a broken sliding glass door. Johnson claimed that the victim had thrown various knickknacks off a living room shelf and into the sliding glass door.

An MCSO deputy spoke with the victim. She stated that she came home from the wedding and found all her belongings in the front yard. As she walked towards the front door, she claimed that Johnson grabbed her by the back of the head and pushed her forward. She recalled putting her hands in front of her body to brace the fall.

The victim stated that her hand went through the glass window next to the front door. The MCSO report indicated that her hand was bleeding. She had several cuts on her inner right hand, a small cut on the inside of her wrist, and two longer cuts that went up her wrist.

In addition to her clothing being thrown outside, the victim told the deputies that her pottery collection, which was located inside a China cabinet in the home, had been destroyed.

The victim stated that the argument with Johnson began the day before when she helped a friend set up for a wedding. Johnson allegedly attempted to track her location on her cellphone and became upset when he could not locate her.

On the day of the incident, she told Johnson that he should not attend the wedding. The victim went to the wedding alone, Johnson later showed up at the event, and she stated that the two of them did not speak. Johnson left the wedding early and began sending her text messages that called her multiple expletives.

Several guests at the wedding saw those text messages and were concerned for the victim’s safety if she went home. One of those guests called the victim around the time that the incident occurred at the residence, and the guest told deputies that Johnson was overhead on the call screaming in the background.

The victim stated that this was not the first act of violence against her, and she had previously obtained an injunction against Johnson. She claimed that Johnson had thrown her on the bed and forcibly covered her face with a pillow a few months ago.

According to the MCSO report, when the deputies attempted to separate Johnson and the victim in front of the residence, he became belligerent and stated, “Some (expletive) judges granted a (expletive) injunction and she’s gonna do it again and I’m gonna get another (expletive) judge.”

When Johnson walked past the victim to leave the scene, he stated, “Bye, you sorry (expletive). You can kiss my (expletive).”

After MCSO detectives investigated the incident, a warrant was obtained for Johnson’s arrest. He was taken into custody on Thursday, March 10.

Johnson is facing domestic violence charges and he is currently being held at Marion County Jail without bond.

MCSO Sheriff Woods stated, “I will not tolerate any of our employees committing an act of domestic violence and, if we establish this has occurred, we will take action to hold them accountable.”

As of March 11 at 12:30 p.m., Johnson’s booking photo was not in the system.
