Marion County firefighters rushed to an Ocala business on Friday evening after receiving reports of a large fire in the area.
Shortly after 7:40 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to Insituform located at 468 Cypress Drive in Ocala in reference to materials that had caught on fire inside a fence near the business. According to MCFR, multiple individuals had called 911 to report that flames and a large column of black smoke were visible.
At 7:46 p.m., MCFR’s Silver Springs Shores Station #17 unit arrived at the business and quickly established a water supply to combat the blaze. Crews observed that materials inside the fence were on fire, and the flames were spreading to a nearby tractor-trailer.
Additional MCFR units consisting of Engine 18 and Ladder 1 arrived on seen shortly afterward to assist with extinguishing the flames. HAZMAT technicians were also at the business to check on the materials in the area.
The fire was brought under control by 8 p.m., and there were no injuries reported.
The cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.
