Effie Yolonda Joshua Mitchell was born on February 2, 1945, to union of Rev. Leroy and Emma Legan Joshua in Brooklyn, New York.

Effie Yolanda Joshua Mitchell received her formal education at Greene Central High School in Brooklyn, New York. She furthered her education at Hampton Jr. College in Ocala, Florida where she received her Associates of Arts Degree.

Effie Yolanda Joshua Mitchell, accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was united with Willow Plant Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Choir member.

Effie Yolonda Joshua Mitchell was united in holy matrimony with Floyd C. Parker Sr., in 1969 where they were blessed with one child. Later in life Mrs. Mitchell met and married the late Mr. George V. Mitchell Jr. in June 1976, in Citra, FL.

She was employed by Marion County School Board as a Clerk Typist at Fessenden Elementary School, later transferring to Forest High School until retiring in 2003.

She was a member of Willow Plant Baptist Church, Citra, Fl under the Pastoral and Leadership of Reverend Joe H. Wright, Jr. She severed on the Usher Board and a member of Choir #1 & 2 for many years.

She enjoyed playing the piano and was a musician at multiple churches: New Hope United Methodist Church, Citra, FL, St John AME Church, Citra, Fl, Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Hawthorne, FL, St. Joseph AME Church, Sparr, Fl., Clearwater Baptist Church, Ocklawaha, FL.

She was a member of the Order Eastern Star for Orange Blossom #45 under the protection of Meridian Grand Lodge A.M.& A.F.

Effie Yolonda Joshua Mitchell departed this life on May 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parent Rev. Leroy and Emma Joshua; brothers, Samuel Joshua, Calvin Joshua, Jay L. Joshua and Edward Joshua and spouse Mr. George V. Mitchell Jr. in 2012.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted and only child Deacon Floyd C. Parker II (Tonja); Sisters: Bertha Mae McMahon (Rev, Marvin) of Fairfield, FL, and Frenchie Williams of Ocala, FL.; Grandchildren: Terrell Snowden Sr. (Melissa), Marissa Mitchell, Dezmon Snowden all of Ocala, FL, Marilyn Mitchell of Hawthorn, FL, Simeon Parker of Hernando, FL. Great grandchildren, Terrell Snowden Jr., Da’von Snowden, Mya Snowden, Makel Snowden, Dezirae Snowden, Lia’Monnie Christopher, La’Monte Mitchell, La’Mariyah Funches, Tre’Vonte Williams, Jiaden King. God Son Christopher Williams. Best friend of many years Gail Kennedy, Angela Dempsey and Nora Mitchell. Devoted nieces, nephews other sorrowing friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Friday June 2, 2023, at 1:00 until 6:00PM at Summers Funeral Home 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala 34475.

Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 3:00pm at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 728 NW 6th Ave., Ocala, Fl 34475.
