Ocala woman accused of entering ex-husband’s home, attacking him with hairdryer

A 55-year-old Ocala woman is behind bars after she allegedly entered her ex-husband’s home without permission and attacked him with a hairdryer.

On April 11, at around 8:15 p.m., an Ocala Police Department officer responded to a residence located on NW 16th Court in reference to a battery incident. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the male victim who advised that his former wife, Annie Johnson, had attacked him, according to the arrest report.

The officer noted in the report that the victim and Johnson have been separated for several years.

On the day of the incident, the victim advised that he was sitting on his couch when Johnson walked into the residence through the unlocked front door. He told the officer that Johnson was not invited, and she did not have permission to enter the home, according to the report.

The victim stated that shortly after Johnson entered the home, she began arguing with the victim over him “seeing other people.” The report stated that she then allegedly entered the bathroom, grabbed a hairdryer, and struck the victim’s forehead with it.

In the report, the officer noted that the victim had slight swelling and a small cut above his left eye. A small cut was also observed on the right side of his upper lip.

After the alleged attack, the victim advised that Johnson “flipped over” a glass table in the living room, causing it to shatter. Johnson then left the residence.

The damage to the table was estimated at around $200.

A witness told the officer that they were outside the victim’s home when Johnson arrived. Johnson allegedly told the witness that they “better not be dating (the victim).” Moments later, Johnson entered the residence, and the witness recalled hearing “commotion” coming from inside the home.

The report stated that the witness did not observe the alleged altercation between Johnson and the victim.

Two days after the incident, on April 13, Johnson was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. She is currently being held without bond, and she is facing the following charges: burglary with assault or battery and criminal mischief with property damage.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, according to jail records.
