(Update from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office: The shooting victim has been identified as 18-year-old Tylique Le’John Christie. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Tuesday morning.)
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred on NW 22nd Avenue in Ocala on Monday evening.
At around 6 p.m., MCSO deputies responded to the 4400 block of NW 22nd Avenue after receiving reports that multiple gunshots had been fired in the area. Upon arrival, deputies learned that a man had been shot.
The male victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
MCSO Major Crimes detectives arrived on scene and are conducting an investigation into the shooting. “At this time, deputies are continuing to search for any possible suspect(s),” stated the sheriff’s office on its Facebook page.
No further details were released by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation is ongoing.
