‘The Velocity of Autumn’ opens this week at Ocala Civic Theatre

A dramatic comedy, The Velocity of Autumn, is set to premiere on the Ocala Civic Theatre stage this week.

The play tells the story of fiery-spirited Alexandra, an 80-year-old widowed artist who has lived for decades in her beloved Brooklyn brownstone.

When Alexandra’s grown children try to force her to move into a retirement home, she prepares to take drastic measures – but a kindred spirit climbs a tree and comes in through her window, hoping to reason with her before she burns all her bridges.

Touching and funny, this dramatic comedy will resonate with anyone who’s struggled to find common ground between generations,” stated the Ocala Civic Theatre in a social media post.

The opening night performance of The Velocity of Autumn will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 9 at the Ocala Civic Theatre, which is located at 4337 E Silver Springs Boulevard. The show’s runtime is 1 hour and 40 minutes, and it will not include an intermission.
