To the Editor:
I’m aware that it takes a lot to make changes. For several years, a lot of us parents have tried to get our community on board to make sidewalks for children on residential roads.
I have seen middle school and high school aged kids laying on the main roads waiting for buses to pick them up. If we had sidewalks, they could at least sit on that pavement instead of the road.
I live on SW 154th Place Road. We have no sidewalks for the kids that walk or want to just simply ride a bike. It’s not safe at all. People speed through these streets all the time, making it unsafe for our kids that live here.
My children would love sidewalks to feel more safe while playing outside. Even on the main roads, there are no sidewalks. There is plenty of room to fit sidewalks, but they won’t do it.
I really hope we can make something happen for our future generation.
