The first Sprouts Farmers Market in Marion County is taking shape, with construction rapidly progressing at the southwest Ocala site.

The new grocery store is situated on an 8.76-acre site located between SW 103rd Street Road and SW 100th Street, along the north side of SW State Road 200.

The site was approved for the construction of Corta Commons, the name of the new plaza, and residential townhomes in May 2024.

The final master plan for the property was approved in August 2024.

In addition to Sprouts, the plaza will feature a Chipotle, a Tropical Smoothie Café, a Mattress Firm, and dozens of townhomes.

In total, five commercial parcels will occupy approximately 7.1 acres of the property, while a proposed 30-unit, townhome development will occupy 1.625 acres.

Although Sprouts will open its first location in Ocala and Marion County, Chipotle is working on its third location in the city. The cafê is the second in Ocala.

In addition to the residential units, the multifamily section of the development will also feature a park and other amenities.

There are over 400 Sprouts in operation across the United States, including around three dozen in Florida.

The next closest Sprouts location outside of Marion County is situated in The Villages.
