White Castle has just announced that it will break ground next month on its second restaurant in the state of Florida, which will be located just about an hour’s drive from the southern tip of Marion County.
On Wednesday, Leesburg-News.com reported that White Castle will break ground on its new restaurant in Lake County on April 9.
Located at the intersection of State Road 50 and Plaza Collina in Clermont, the new restaurant will be closer to Marion County than any other location has been in the fast food chain’s 104-year history. It will be situated 45 miles from Summerfield and approximately 50 miles from Marion Oaks.
In 2021, White Castle opened its first restaurant in the state of Florida since the 1960s in Orlando. A year after that location opened, it was named the top-performing White Castle in the United States.
In 2022, White Castle opened a Crave & Go takeout location near its Orlando restaurant.
Those two locations in Orlando were the only White Castle locations in the state of Florida for several years until the announcement was made last year previewing the Clermont restaurant and the possibility of other restaurants in Central Florida.
Founded in Kansas in 1921, White Castle currently operates over 300 locations in over a dozen states, with a large collection of restaurants in the Midwest and Northeast United States.
