An Ocala restaurant that serves a fusion of Peruvian, French, and Italian cuisine has just announced that it will take over a former fine dining restaurant space that sits atop a multi-story hotel near I-75.
Taverna Berrocal will take over the former location on Sky Fine Dining, which closed its doors during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The restaurant space is situated on the top floor of the Holiday Inn & Suites located at 3600 SW 38th Avenue.

In multiple social media posts from the company, owner Juan Berrocal has briefly previewed the new space.
Currently, Berrocal operates his restaurant at 2515 NE 3rd Street in east Ocala. While his old restaurant had enough space for a few tables, Berrocal’s new space has multiple sections, dozens more seats, and a large full bar.
Sky Fine Dining operated at the space atop the hotel for many years before its closure in November 2020. At the time, the company had indicated that it was closing for a remodeling.

After several months, that closure became semi-permanent, with the restaurant saying it had hoped to reopen by 2021.
“Unfortunately due to Covid, we will be closing our doors for the remainder of the year and reopening in 2021,” reads a post from the company’s Facebook page on November 25, 2020.
According to Taverna Berrocal’s website, the restaurant serves authentic Peruvian food that is fused with Italian and French nouvelle cuisine.

“At Taverna Berrocal, we take pride in offering a culinary experience that blends Peruvian and Italian tradition with a modern twist. Discover the story behind each dish and the passion we pour into every detail,” reads a statement from the organization’s website.
When it opened years ago in east Ocala, Taverna Berrocal replaced Sabores Latinos, which operated at the space for a couple years before the Peruvian restaurant took over.
