A developer is seeking a special use permit to build a 141-bed, skilled nursing and memory care facility on a nearly 10-acre property along State Road 200 in unincorporated Ocala.
Kenneth L. Tobin of Architecture Concepts, Inc., will present the request to the Marion County Planning and Zoning Commission on behalf of property owner CLD Properties, LTD, on Wednesday, May 28.
According to a county staff memo, the development is proposed for a 9.47-acre parcel situated at the corner of SW Highway 200 and SW 93rd Street Road.
A street address has not yet been assigned to the parcel. It is located within the Urban Growth Boundary and Secondary Springs Protection Zone, according to the county.
The site plan shows the facility would be under the Ashton Health brand and would be named Azalea Skilled Nursing and Memory Care.
Plans call for construction of a one-story, 103,526-square-foot, skilled nursing building with approximately 115 parking spaces.

The facility would feature 50 skilled nursing private beds, 66 skilled nursing semi-private beds, and one bariatric bed. In the memory care unit, there would be two private beds and 22 semi-private beds.
The parcel, which is currently vacant and zoned B-2 (Community Business), is situated near several recently developed sites on Ocala’s most popular roadway, including Waffle House, Ellianos, Tidal Wave Auto Spa, and The Towns at Laurel Commons, among others.
The Marion County Planning and Zoning Commission next meets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at the McPherson Governmental Complex.
