Big Lots has returned to Ocala, taking over a former Roses Discount Store location that is less than a mile from one of the three Big Lots that closed just over six months ago.
The city’s sole Big Lots is now open at 8445 SW State Road 200, in the Friendship Center shopping plaza. The store is adored with signs reading “now open” and “the comeback starts now.”
Big Lots is situated across from the city’s first Sprouts Farmer’s Market and a new Chipotle that both opened at Corta Commons in recent months. Late last year, Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, LLC, the company that owns Roses, stepped in to save hundreds of Big Lots stores that were among 1,000 scheduled to close.
Big Lots’ return to Ocala comes around seven months after the company closed its three locations in the city. One of those locations (8602 SW State Road 200) was around 1/2 of a mile from the new Big Lots location in Ocala.
The other two locations were situated along Maricamp Road and East Silver Springs Boulevard.
The closure of Roses leaves the city with one remaining Roses Discount Store located at 2640 NE 14th Street.
