For the second time in the past year, White Castle has announced that it will open a new location within 50 miles of Marion County.
The fast-food chain confirmed the news in a brief announcement on Friday morning, stating that another castle is coming to the Sunshine State. The new restaurant is planned for St. Augustine.
Although an exact address for the new location has not been specified, the northeastern tip of Marion County (i.e., Fort McCoy, Salt Springs, etc.) is less than 20 miles away from the St. Johns County line and less than 50 miles from St. Augustine.
The announcement for the new St. Augustine location comes just over a year after the company broke ground on its first location in Lake County, which is situated at the intersection of State Road 50 and Plaza Collina in Clermont.
That White Castle, which officially opened on August 12, 2025, is a similar distance away, with Google Maps showing that it is 45 miles from Summerfield and 50 miles from Marion Oaks.

Founded in Kansas in 1921, White Castle currently operates over 340 locations across more than a dozen states.
The company made its long-awaited return to Florida in 2021 with an Orlando location that quickly became the top-performing restaurant in the entire company.
In 2022, the chain added a takeout-only Crave and Go facility nearby to handle the high volume of customers.
In addition to the new location in St. Augustine, the company is planning to open new locations in Kissimmee and Daytona Beach. Those previously announced locations will open before the location in St. Augustine.
Despite the proximity of the new Clermont and St. Augustine sites to local residents, the chain has yet to announce any formal plans for a castle within Marion County.
Would you make the trip to St. Augustine to get your White Castle fix? Do you think it is time for the chain to finally open a location in Ocala or Marion County?
