The owner of a local masonry business has just purchased over 133 acres of property in west Marion County for $1.5 million.
Joseph and Shirley Saez purchased the 133.21-acre property at 16710 NW 53rd Street in Morriston from Melissa B. Welborn as trustee of the Marlene M. Barrett Trust, for $1,510,500 on Thursday, May 7, according to a deed filed with the Marion County Clerk of Courts.
The property, which consists of two parcels that are mostly vacant, sits near the Marion/Levy County line.
The sole structure on either parcel is a single-family residence that was constructed in 1908.
State corporate records show that Mr. Saez owns Southern Masonry, which serves Marion County.
The sale comes less than a week after a development group acquired over 560 acres of farm land in northern Marion County for $4.6 million.
Just a week prior to that, an Olympian equestrian sold her 60-acre horse farm in west Marion County for $4.45 million and the owners of the World Equestrian Center acquired a multi-acre horse farm next to their property for $4.5 million.
Another week prior to that, a large horse farm near WEC was sold for $4 million.
