Young Ocala father dies in fiery motorcycle crash

A 27-year-old Ocala man died in a fiery crash after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck Tuesday night on County Road 484 near Marion Oaks Manor.

Carlos Luis Infantes had been riding a 2018 Honda motorcycle CBR600RR at 9 p.m. when he collided with a 2018 Ford F-250 driven by Beth Ann Hoover of Ocala, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Hoover had been traveling west on County Road 484 and was making a left turn when Infantes’ eastbound motorcycle traveling “at a high rate of speed” collided with her pickup truck, the report said. Both vehicles caught fire after the crash.

Infantes was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. He had been wearing a helmet.

Hoover and a passenger, 41-year-old Justin Allen Hoover of Ocala, suffered minor injuries. Both of them had been wearing their seatbelts.

Infantes served in the U.S. Army. The New Haven, Conn. native attended West Port High School in Ocala and then studied at Central Florida Community College.

He leaves behind a wife and young child.
