Ocala seeks contractor to provide citywide pest control services

The City of Ocala is currently soliciting quotes for an experienced contractor to provide monthly pest control services for city buildings supporting the Facilities Management department.

The request for quotes is currently posted through the City of Ocala’s Procurement and Contracting Office and runs through Thursday, December 8 at 2 p.m. To be eligible, the contractor must be licensed as a certified pest control operator in Florida.

According to the scope of work outlined in the request, the chosen contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision required to control and eliminate the following pests: roaches, spiders, ants, silverfish, earwigs, crickets, flying insects, bees, wasps, hornets, wood, boring insects, carpenter ants, and pharaoh ants.

The scope of work states that the contractor will provide spot treatment to selective surfaces that include construction cracks, water pipes, behind baseboards, surfaces behind and beneath cabinets, and other places where insects may hide. All entrance ways to buildings and storage areas will also be treated to prevent the access of pests.

In addition, the contractor will be required to respond between any monthly services, at no additional charge, for treatment of any pests that are observed.

The normal working hours for this project will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. The contractor will be required to provide 48-hour advance notice to the city project manager for any work that will be performed outside of these working hours, according to city records.

The City of Ocala will award a contract to the lowest bidder that meets all requirements, and it will be for an initial two-year term, with the option for two additional one-year renewals.
