Darrell “Pookie” Collins passed away January 12, 2023. He was born January 21 ,1975 to his Loving Parents James and Victoria Collins of Ft. McCoy ,FL . Darrell received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Ft. McCoy , FL. Under the leadership of the late Reverend Henry Bracy and a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Ft. McCoy , Fl , under the leadership of Pastor Curtis Houston .
Darrell married his loving wife Rita Collins of Ocala, Florida whom he cherished for 24 years. Darrell began his education at Ft. McCoy Elementary and Middle School where he received one of the highest honors of recognition , The White Hat Award , in the presence of his Grandmother, The late Annie Blair “ Big Mama “ Collins.
He was the proud graduate of North Marion High School Class of 1993 , Citra , Fl. He also attended Union College in Barbourville ,KY and furthered his studies at Tallahassee Community College, Tallahassee ,FL.
Coach Darrell Collins began his coaching career at Westport High School, Ocala, FL and later transferred to North Marion High School where he impacted the lives of many students, faculty and community members.
