FHP looking for driver involved in motorcycle crash that critically injured Gainesville woman

The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking any information from the public that can help identify the driver of an SUV who caused a motorcycle to crash in Alachua County on Friday, March 24.

At approximately 10 p.m., a 69-year-old Micanopy man (driver) and 46-year-old woman from Gainesville (passenger) were traveling southbound on State Road 331 (Williston Road), near the intersection of U.S. Highway 441, on a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

At the same time, a silver SUV turned left at the intersection and traveled directly in front of the motorcycle. FHP stated that the motorcycle’s driver took evasive action to avoid the SUV and lost control of the motorcycle, which caused both riders to be thrown across the roadway.

The motorcycle’s driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, and the passenger was listed in critical condition. The report mentioned that both individuals were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators are turning to the public for any information regarding the driver and/or the silver SUV that caused this accident. According to FHP, the make and model of the SUV is currently unknown.

If anyone has any information regarding the possible identity of the driver or the location of the SUV, please contact the FHP Regional Communications Center at 1-800-387-1290.
