Robert Eugene Ferrone, 42, who has been classified as a habitual traffic offender, was later spotted behind the wheel of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.

When an officer attempted to place Ferrone under arrest, Ferrone struggled with the officer. After Ferrone was handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car, the officer asked Ferrone if he had any contraband to declare before being taken to the jail. Ferrone said he did not. When he was being booked at the jail, a small plastic bag was discovered in the pocket of his jeans. A substance inside the bag tested positive for methamphetamine.

Ferrone is facing felony charges of drug possession, smuggling contraband and driving while license suspended as well as a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.

He was being held at the Sumter County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
