Driver killed when semi-truck overturns and bursts into flames on I-75 exit ramp

A man was killed early Wednesday morning after his semi-truck overturned on an Interstate 75 exit ramp and burst into flames.

The driver, whose name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was traveling south on the exit at Mile Marker 358 in Marion County at about 2 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove on the left grass shoulder. He then overcorrected and steered to the right, causing the semi to overturn on the exit ramp and catch fire, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The exit ramp was closed for several hours and the case is still under investigation, the report says.
