Gertrude Marie Williamson Bailey

Gertrude Marie Williamson Bailey. In the calmness of the morning around four o’clock, the Lord God Almighty dispatched his angels to come down and Bring his child, Gertrude Marie Williamson Bailey home to be with Him. She was born August 4, 1917 in Zanesville, Ohio to Frank and Evaline Williamson.

Educated in the public schools of Zanesville. A graduate of Wilberforce University, Wilberforce Ohio and spent thirty years teaching in the public schools of Cadiz and Cleveland, Ohio.

She retired in 1973 and came to Ocala to live. After visiting several churches in the area, in October of 1977, she united with Greater Hopewell Baptist Church family.

Sister Bailey remained an active member of the church teaching primary Sunday School classes, and a member of the Mission and Deaconess Ministries until her health began to fail. She was also an active member of the writing team in the writing of the Church’s first history book.

She leaves to cherish her memory four generations of nieces and nephews; adopted daughters, Eva Davis, Evergreen, Al and Rhodia Hall all of Ocala; adopted son, Kenneth Davis; adopted grandson, Michael Flucker; a host of church and community friends will also cherish her memory.

Public Viewing will be on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 1 PM until 6:00 PM at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th St, Ocala, FL. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 515 NW 6th Ter. Ocala, FL. 34475.
