Violent argument over Wal-Mart trip lands obscenity-yelling man in jail

William Doris Brymer

A violent argument Sunday night over a trip to Wal-Mart landed a Silver Springs construction laborer in jail.

When Marion County deputies arrived at a house on E. Silver Springs Boulevard, a woman told them that 54-year-old William Doris Brymer was upset because she had gone shopping. She said he started yelling obscenities at her and then grabbed her by the throat, a sheriff’s office report states, adding that the woman said she was having difficulty breathing so she hit Brymer in an effort to break away from him.

The woman eventually got away from Brymer, a laborer with Art Walker Construction, and went to meet some friends, one of whom called law enforcement for help after seeing the marks on her neck and how upset she was, a sheriff’s office report states.

The deputy noted that the woman “had a series of marks” on the left side of her neck that included a deep bruise near her throat, a red mark along the jawline and abrasions behind her left ear. Her physical injuries were consistent with her statement about being choked to the point where she couldn’t breathe, the report states.

The deputy then spoke with Brymer, who was noted in the report as “intoxicated.” He admitted to being in a verbal altercation with the woman but said he never “placed his hands on her.” He claimed that he just wanted her to leave the room, the report states.

Brymer was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery by strangulation. He was being held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 9 at 9 a.m.
