Roland L. Durand 81 of Ocala, Florida passed away on September 21st at home with his loving family at his side. He was the cherished husband of Claire (Trahan) Durand for 23 years.
Born in Woonsocket he was the son of Lucien and Donalda Durand.
A long time resident of North Smithfield, he worked for General Motors in Framingham, MA until retiring in 1989 and was a member of UAW Local 422. He enjoyed being a member of the Moose Lodge 1142 of Ocala, playing his favorite card game SKIP BO and watching the NE Patriots games. He loved the annual trips to RI and exploring new places in Florida.
Most of all, Roland loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Donna (Pierre) Fontaine of Harrisville, Daniel (Alicia) Durand of Providence and Mary (Christopher) Ready of North Smithfield and also his step-children Jean Samborn of Kissimee, Gail (Philip) Poisson of Davenport and Paul Vadeboncoeur of Ocala, Florida, a sister Doris (Armand) Thivierge of North Smithfield and a brother Gerald (Rachel) Durand of Woonsocket, sister in law Aline Durand of Cumberland. He was predeceased by a brother Normand Durand and a sister Rita Brunelle.
Upon Roland’s wished, there are no calling hours or funeral. A Celebration of his life will be held privately at a later date. Arrangements were under the care of Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home.
