Catherine Jane Costello, 100, a retired bookkeeper and secretary, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Ocala, where she had lived since childhood. Mrs. Costello was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to Cornell William and Lois Odessa Creekbaum. In the 1920s, her family moved to Marion County, where her father, a civil engineer, built roads. She later married. She worked for Southern Plate Glass & Paint Company for many years.
Mrs. Costello was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. She served as regent of the Ocala chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the Pioneer Garden Club at one time.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, C. Frank Creekbaum; her significant other, James Dodd; and her many cats, including Hector, Blackie, and Snowball.
Survivors include her nephew, Brian Lee Creekbaum of Ocala; cousins, Cynthia Fairchild and Priscilla Estes, both of Ocala; cousin, David Groves of Marble, NC; and other cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Marion County. A funeral service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church at 503 SE Broadway Street in Ocala on Monday, November 12 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Jonathan French officiating. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Ocala. Arrangements were under the care of Roberts of Ocala Downtown Chapel.
