Ocala Wal-Mart employee foils shoplifter by tipping over cart

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to an Ocala Wal-Mart on Sunday after a man tried to walk out of the store with a cart full of items he didn’t pay for.

When the deputy arrived at the store, located at 9570 SW Hwy. 200, a loss prevention officer told him the man entered the facility around 6:30 p.m. and walked around the store with a cart and selected multiple items, including food, tools and personal items. The total value of the items was $2,112.36.

The suspect left the store through the garden exit, where he was confronted by the loss prevention officer. He tried to push past her with the cart but the employee tipped over the cart and the suspect ran away.

The incident remains under investigation.
