Ocala man jailed after caught driving without license for 10th time

Larry Donnell Jackson

An Ocala man with an extensive record of traffic arrests found himself behind bars Thursday for the second time in a week.

An Ocala Police officer who was conducting traffic enforcement in the 1900 block of NW U.S. Hwy. 27 spotted 53-year-old Larry Donnell Jackson driving a silver Honda early Thursday afternoon. When the officer checked the vehicle’s license tag, he discovered that the registered owner had a suspended license, an Ocala police report says.

After the officer stopped Jackson’s vehicle, he admitted that his license was suspended. And after checking Jackson’s driving record, it was discovered that his license was revoked on:

  • Feb. 11, 2004 for failing to complete driver improvement school;
  • June 28, 2006 for failing to pay court obligations;
  • Dec. 30, 2008 for being a habitual traffic offender; and
  • Feb. 9, 2017 for failing to pay court obligations.

In addition, the record showed that Jackson had nine prior offenses for driving with a suspended or revoked license. Those came on Sept. 14, 1990; July 16, 1993; Nov. 30, 1993; Aug. 27, 1998; Aug. 19, 2006; March 10, 2007; Dec. 16, 2007; May 19, 2008; and Jan. 7, 2015.

Jackson was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked (10th offense). He was released early Friday morning on $5,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set.

Jail records also show that Jackson also was arrested last Sunday, March 3 and charged with driving while license suspended or revoked (habitual offender). He was released early Monday morning on $2,000 bond.
