Man arrested after producing Mexican Consulate ID card instead of driver’s license

Emilo Arcos Torres

An Ocala man was charged with driving without a license after being pulled over for speeding on Wednesday.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy observed a silver Pontiac sedan traveling south on Marion Oaks Drive at 58 mph in a 30 mph zone. He initiated a traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The driver – Emilio Arcos Torres, 24, of 301 Marion Oaks Drive – told the deputy he doesn’t have a driver’s license and instead provided a Mexican Consulate identification card, according to the report.

Arcos Torres was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released the next day on his own recognizance. He’s due to appear in Marion County Court on May 16.
