An Ocala man who refused to pay his tab at an Ocala eatery found himself behind bars on Sunday night.
An Ocala Police officer was called to the Darrell’s Diner at 1031 S. Pine Ave. shortly after 8 p.m. and when he arrived, he was told that a man, later identified as 54-year-old Robert E. Comer, had eaten a meal valued at $9.62 and then sat at a table for an hour without paying his bill. An employee asked Comer if he was going to pay his check and he replied that “he did not have any money,” the report says.
Comer confirmed to the officer that he didn’t have any money with him and he didn’t intend to pay the bill. The officer them took Comer into custody and transported him to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with obtaining food or lodging with intent to defraud.
Comer was being held on $500 bond and is due in court Aug. 5 at 1 p.m. to answer to the charge.
