Estranged husband jailed after violent confrontation with wife at mall kiosk

An estranged husband found himself behind bars Monday after grabbing his wife and taking her phone from her while she was working at a kiosk in the Paddock Mall.

The frantic woman told Ocala Police officers that 30-year-old John Jaysean Ringling showed up at her workplace and started arguing with her about her phone. She said he left the mall but returned a short time later, walked up behind her while she was working and “bear hugged” her and took her phone. She said he then looked at it and threw it at her, an Ocala Police report says.

John Jaysean Ringling, 30, of Ocala, was arrested Monday night at the Circle K, located at 1986 SW 27th Ave., following a domestic violence incident with his wife, who was working at the Paddock Mall.

After viewing video surveillance footage of the incident, an officer was approached by mall security personnel who said that Ringling had been trespassed from the building in the past. A computer check confirmed that he was trespassed on Nov. 10, 2018, the report says.

Ringling was eventually located at the Circle K at 1986 SW 27th Ave. and taken into custody. He was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with domestic battery, trespassing and a probation violation for a previous fraud charge. He is due in court Sept. 5 and Sept. 12 to answer to the charges.

Ringling is no stranger to the Marion County legal system, having been arrested on July 9 and charged with trespass without warning and failure to return to leased property. He also was arrested March 22 and charged with failure to return leased property, domestic battery and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.
