An Ocala woman caught on cell phone video shoving a man with her whole body claimed she was only trying to slam the door in his face.
Dawn Marie Spirko, 30, was charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday at her residence on Hemlock Trail. The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Spirko had been pushing him around and arguing with him all day, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The video showed the deputy cell phone footage that showed Spirko walking past the victim in the garage. It then shows Spirko going through the door in the garage before turning around and pushing the victim with her whole body, the report said.
Spirko told the deputy that the altercation was only verbal. When asked about the video, she said she was trying to close the door. She said if she shoved the victim, it was not a push, but she was trying to slam to door in his face, according to the report.
Spirko was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Friday on her own recognizance. She’ll appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 17.
