Habitual offender from Fort McCoy caught driving with suspended license in Citra

Shi Edison Headden

A Fort McCoy man with a record as a habitual traffic offender was caught once again driving with a suspended license in Citra on Tuesday night.

Shi Edison Headden, 27, of 17749 NE 146th Place, was observed by a Marion County sheriff’s deputy traveling westbound in the 2500 block of NE 175th Street Road. Headden made a right turn northbound onto NE 24th Avenue when he crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic, according to the sheriff’s office report.

During the ensuing traffic stop, Headden told the deputy his driver’s license was suspended. A computer search of his driving record showed Headden has been classified as a habitual offender since July of 2017 and that his license was suspended indefinitely in May 2019 for failure to pay court financial obligations, the report said.

Headden was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on $2,000 bond.
