Coronavirus death reported in Manatee County along with 24 more Florida cases

A death connected to the Coronavirus has been reported in Manatee County and 24 more positive cases of the COVID-19 virus have been identified in Florida.

The new cases reported to the Florida Department of Health include 22 Sunshine State residents and two non-Florida residents. That brings the total cases in the state to 195 positive results in Florida residents and 21 positives in non-Florida residents.
Florida recently partnered with private laboratories around the state to expand COVID-19 laboratory testing capacity. This partnership will increase the number of tests conducted each day and ensure Floridians receive the critical health information they need in a timely manner.

Expansion to private laboratories changes the COVID-19 testing landscape across the state. They will run tests as they receive swab samples from practitioners. Testing and reporting times will vary among commercial and DOH laboratories and demographic information may be updated during investigations.
