Silver Springs woman accused of bringing meth to jail after battery arrest

Donella Queen

A Silver Springs woman is accused of twice battering a man she says cheated on her and then having drugs on her when she was booked into the Marion County Jail.

Donella Queen, 52, of NE 130th Court, was charged Thursday night with aggravated domestic assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, simple domestic battery, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug equipment, and introducing contraband into a detention facility.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that he and Queen got into an argument when she accused him of cheating. He said he gathered some clothes he planned to give to a friend and left the residence on foot to get away from her, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said Queen insisted on following him while walking and again accused him of cheating. He said he turned to face her and she struck him at least two times on the left side of his face and head with a frozen Mountain Dew bottle. The victim said he immediately turned around and returned home to call 911. The deputy observed a small bleeding scratch on the victim’s left temple area consistent with his account, the report said.

The victim said another incident took place about three weeks prior when Queen again accused him of cheating. He said she approached him with a butcher knife in one hand and a machete in the other. The victim said Queen didn’t make any specific threats with the weapons but due to the context of the argument and the close proximity of the butcher knife blade to his person, he felt in fear for his life. He said he was able to get both weapons away from her and didn’t report the incident to law enforcement, according to the report.

Queen told the deputy that the victim had been cheating on her. She said she observed a female drive by the residence where the victim was laughing and talking, and she confronted the victim. Queen said the victim left the residence on foot and she couldn’t find him, so she returned home, the report said.

Queen said when the victim came home, she noticed dust on his clothing, leading her to believe he had been laying down on the ground. She said she confronted him again with allegations of infidelity, which led to an argument but no physical contact. Queen said at some point in the incident, she poured water from a plastic Mountain Dew bottle that had been refilled and frozen but was almost completely thawed. Asked if the bottle touched the victim while she was pouring the water, Queen said she didn’t believe so, according to the report.

Based on the statements provided, observed injury and risk of future violence, Queen was determined to be the primary aggressor and was taken to the jail. Once there, a strip search revealed a clear plastic bag containing a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine located in Queen’s crotch area, the report said.

Queen is being held on $5,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on May 26.
