A 45-year-old man was jailed recently after allegedly shooting a weapon near a man who was picking up his belongings.
The victim said he went to a residence in Umatilla to pick up some personal items when Joseph V. Palmore exited the residence with a rifle and fired a shot into the ground near him. The victim said he left the residence but returned a second time to retrieve his property and Palmore fired another round into the ground, a sheriff’s office report states.

He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon. He was released on $12,000 bond and is due in court Oct. 27 at 9 a.m.
