Robert Sasso

Robert “Bob” Sasso, 97, of Ocala, FL, passed away on April 11, 2021, in Ocala Fl. Robert was born in New Haven, CT to Pasquale and Judith (Wilde) Sasso on May 16, 1923. Having grown up in New Haven Bob left his hometown on his own at the age of 15. He initially joined the Merchant Marines to see what the world would offer him. He traveled across the Atlantic and explored Europe while working. After World War 2 started Bob joined the Army where he participated in the New Haven CT 102nd Infantry Band. After World War II he moved to Miami where he met his future wife Patricia.

Bob and Patricia married and enjoyed life. Bob was an expert craftsman and family man. He focused on the two most important things in his life: his family and his work. The family grew and so did his Tile and Marble business that he had with his brother Burton. Bob had an incredible work ethic. This work ethic was instilled into his children and grandchildren.

He had a saying, “If you can’t make it in five you’ll never make it in seven.” Which we learned to be, not that you cannot work seven days, but if you have to you are doing something wrong. This work ethic would lead to him being able to provide for his family for over fifty years.

Bob, Pat, and the family moved to Ocala in 1980, where his four grandchildren went to school and grew up. Bob always had great advice for his family as he had the life experience for it. In the end, he spent time around his family and passed with them by his side. He is preceded in death by his Father Pasquale, Mother Judith, Sister Marion, Brother Lawrence, Brother Burton, Sister Dorothy, and Son Gordon.

Bob is survived by his wife Patricia Sasso of Ocala, Daughter Ramona, Daughter Donna, Daughter Robyn, Grandson Gordon, Grandson Robert, Grandson Bryan, Grandson Joshua, Great Granddaughter Avarey, Great Granddaughter Leia, Great Granddaughter Eleanor, Great Granddaughter Katelyn, Great Grandson Nicholas, Great Grandson Caleb, Great Granddaughter Julianna, Great Grandson Bryson, Great Grandson Robert, and Nephew Robert.

There will be no memorial service per Bob’s request. He wants people the eat, drink, and spend time with those that matter most.
