An Ocala man was charged with possession of marijuana and a half-dozen probation violations after being pulled over for speeding.

Using radar, a Marion County sheriff’s deputy measured a black vehicle traveling 56 mph in a 45-mph hour zone on the evening of April 14. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and immediately smelled the strong odor of marijuana, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy asked the driver – Adam Elijah Scott, 23, of 3375 SW 129th Loop if he had marijuana in the vehicle and he admitted he had some in the middle console. He also said he had a medical marijuana card, the report said.

Scott retrieved the package from the middle console and handed it to the deputy. It was a blue envelope-style package with an astronaut on the front. It did not have a label or Scott’s name on it. Scott said he got if from a dispensary but was unable to provide the dispensary’s name or location. The package had a green leafy substance inside, according to the report.

A further search of the vehicle turned up a grinder with a green leafy substance in it. The green leafy substance from the package and from the grinder both tested positive for marijuana, the report said.

Scott was charged with possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and six probation violations – three for grand theft and three for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. He was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released April 16 on $60,500 bond. Scott will appear in Marion County Court on the drug charge May 12 and the probation violations on May 24.
